16 is a Milestone

For most of you you got your license at the age of 16, or sometime around there. Well for me it was sometime around there. On October 3, 1993 I was born, and from then on I was waiting for the next big thing to happen in my life. Well, it has officially happened!

I got my license on none other than my moms birthday, what a great gift I thought.

And here is the picture of it.

And in case you can't tell, Yes I am an organ donor and I got it issued to me on November 19, 2009, the reason I didn't get this posted up that day is because it took just over a week for them to mail it to me.

The Military

The Military is a big part of my life, my dad and uncle in the Army. My sister and brother in law in the Air Force. But there is one I am gonna focus on right now. My Grandpa, who is a former Marine.

Now I am positive that all of you know that today is Veterans day. But something I am sure not all of you know is that Yesterday was the birthday of the Marines. Thats right, yesterday The Few and The Proud celebrated. And this is the post that is saying, Happy Late Birthday Marines.

Thingamals

As you all now I am a Sophmore in High School, and that means that I get to have 2 elective classes. As one of those elective classes I chose an elective called Digital Imaging. Now to sum up that class in 3 words: Artwork on Computers. And as the year goes on we will have alot of projects, usually one or 2 a month. And for the next 2 weeks we will be working on a project called "Thingamals."

Now Thingamals are really simple, its just a matter of choosing 2 or more animals. And for this project I will combine the two or more animals into one. Now I had plenty in mind and couldn't narrow it down, so I have come to all you guys to ask for your help.

This is the Thingamal I want to do, not this exactly but close to it:
In case you can't tell, this is a combined Cardinal and Fox.

I don't know whether or not I should try to do something like this, so here is your chance to voice your opinion, tell me what you think and give me some more ideas to do for this project.

My New Resolution

Yes, Yes, I know, I haven't updated this blog in over a month, but hey, can you really blame me? I have been doin just about everything you can imagin.

Well, not everything, but I have been doing alot of stuff. In the begining of the month I was pre-occupied with my birthday and getting my license, but that still hasn't happened yet. Thats only because my parents haven't gotten the brith certificate and my Social Security card yet, so I am still waiting to take the test. In the middle of the month I was working almost non-stop on school, with the end of the quarter and a bunch of projects due, I didn't even get on the computer for about 2 weeks, let alone update my blog. And in the end of the month I was getting together my costume and helpin my friends pick out there costumes for Halloween.

But right now I am making a resolution. And that resolution is that I will update this blog at least 3 times a week, and if I can't do that... Well we don't have to worry about that cause I will set aside time to update this blog, so starting today, you will get at least 3 updates a week out of me.

Birthday Countdown, 5 days!

Well before i forget to mention it, THIS SATURDAY IS MY 16TH BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And no, that is not what this post is going to be about, well, it will partly be on this post.

1993, THE Year to be born, why was it the year to be born, you ask?

Well, starting on January 1st, 2010 the law in Kansas will state the following: No person under the age of 17 will be able to get a drivers License, yes its true, starting this saturday I only have 3 months to get my license or I would have to wait til October 3, 2010 to get another chance to even get my license.

Now I am sure every man will understand how excited I am about this.

A few weeks ago I went over to Kansas City to help my dad move, and no, thats not what I am excited about, what I am excited about is what he gave me.

He gave me MY OWN chair. Now the second I got home with it I told everyone that no one will sit there, only me. So now, I officially have my own chair, and just mine.

Don't you just love it? I DO!

Now to my next topic, who is afraid of spiders? If so, don't read this part.

A few days ago I went to my friends house to go see what was possibly THE biggest spider I had ever see. And It was HUGE.

And don't think I am stupid, Yes I do see the little video thing where you can get them off your computer, but I need help on how to get videos off places like U Tube, you know? Like music videos? I know one of you has to know how to do it.

So please help me! I have been dying a little bit inside everyday I don't know how to put up a video!

Bad Post Name

Well, I said it before and I will say it again, I AM BACK. And again, I would like to apoligize for not posting anything at all this week, I have honestly been busy with school and Youth Group, so I decided I would set time aside today to finally post something on my blog.

Now before I get into something that is truely improtant I would just like to say that Yes, I am doing good in school, I am having fun NOT being in the Ninth grade. It feels good knowing that your not the youngest in the school.

Now for the things that people actually care about. Well, other than school, I haven't been doing much, just been hanging out with my friends, goin to Youth Group, just the usual. I am starting to getting used to getting up at 6:30 and sometimes 7, if I'm lucky, in the morning. But on days like today, it feels really good to sleep until when I WANT to get out of bed. I got about 12 hours of sleep last night, and it felt great.

Well that will just about do it for now, sorry I don't have any pictures, I will post some up in a few days, but for Now I will see Y'all later!

Yes, its true, I am posting a blog. I am actually posting a blog for the first time in about 3 weeks.

And I bet your wondering what I have been doing these past 3 weeks. Well I have been enjoying my summer of course!

The only bad part of it is that I have to go back to school tomorow. O Well, at least its a nice school like this one:

So about 2 weeks ago you will never guess where I got to go.

I got to go to none other than the newly renivated Kauffman stadium, home of the Kansas City Royals. And I had the time of my life, go ahead and take a look at the some of the picture I took:

My Short Update

Ok, before I start, I would like to say that I do regret not posting anything in like the past 3 weeks, But I have a really good explanation, and I will tell you that right now.

THERE IS LIKE NO TIME TO POST ANYTHING, I HAVE BEEN REALLY BUSY WITH MY SUMMER, but not to worry, I am getting up tomorow morning and doing nothing til I post all the pictures I have to show everybody, so tomorow will be officially known as "Catch-Up Day." You will find out what I have been doin these past few weeks. And yes, there will be pictures, so just look foward to tomorow.

Where did U Go???

NO I AM NOT DEAD

Hey, I know what your thinking, why has it been almost 2 weeks since my last post? Well, I am here to answer your question. And trust me, I have a probably not good reason.

Well, in the second week of July, and you can't blame me for this, my Sister, Morgyn and her boyfriend Michael were in town.

And then, I wanted to post updates but my procrastination got the best of me, and I just kept putting it off. And then this past couple of days I have been with all my friends, so honestly I haven't had any time to post any updates. So I decided that I wouldn't do anything today until I posted this post. So here I am, posting this update, and I promise that I will update by the end of this weekend. And again sorry, I will start updating ALOT SOONER. Well I will see Y'all later, thanks for reading!

My EXTRA-Long Post, Be Afraid, Be Very Afraid

Before I get into my story of going into town I would like to remind you of my last post.

On what I believe was a Tuesday Night, I really can't remember, my friends called me and wanted me to go into town with them.

I said I would have to ask my mom first, and she eventually said yes, And you know how everyone say Getting there is half the Fun? Well, I finally experienced that on Tuesday Night.

I ACTUALLY GOT TO DRIVE MY MOMS CAR UP TO THE OLD MIDDLE SCHOOL. And Yes, you read that right, I DROVE.

And I WAS AWESOME.

Well let me tell you why it was only half the fun. Its cause of how much excitement was in town!

Copycat Post-The New Hair Debate

It was 2 weeks ago today that my Aunt Ali Posted a blog about getting his hair cut. I am not going to get into her story, but I am gonna give you a link so you can see it yourself. http://mombesplace.blogspot.com/2009/06/great-hair-debate.html

A couple of weeks ago, I think it was like 3, My mom had me and my sister stay the night at my Dads place. Now the big reason I was over there was so I could get my Hair cut.

And of course, I came home......And my hair was no shorter.

We never got around to doing it, so we were going to go get my haircut at a Hair cut place in Lawrence.

**Sidenote Now the last time I went to det my haircut at a place in Lawrence, Its was the VERY FIRST TIME I was gonna get my haircut by someone other than my dad. I was really afraid. And the only reason I had to do it was because my dad was in Iraq.

So I went to get my haircut. And long story short, the decided to CLEAN my hair after my Hair cut, I was like, Ok, what harm could it do.

Well I will tell you what harm it did. This girl had never ever used the cleaning machine. And she soaked my back with water and the whole ride home I had to lean foward so I wouldn't get my moms car wet.

Now you can imagine at how mad I was that I had to do this. But wait............ I came home, and my hair was no shorter.

I was sooo happy. You see when we got there, They had closed early. And that was the only place I would dare go to, just cause I know the person that WAS gonna give me my haircut. So we went home, my hair still long.

Now I sit here, on June 25th, 2009 and my last haircut was in November, of 2008. And the bad part? My dad is leaving on July 6 to go to Annuel Training for the Military. And he will be there for 2 weeks. O and did I mention that its in Wyoming.

Yea, so I am stuck here, with long hair, and no one to cut it, unless we can find sometime to go into Kansas City so my dad can cut it, while his schedule is filled with getting ready for A.T.

So wish me luck, I need a Miracle.

Official Fathers Day Blog

Well, I said it yesterday, so this is my official Fathers Day post. Now I don't have any Picures, and I am sorry for that, but I will get some of all the dads in my life.

First and foremost I would like to say Happy Fathers Day to none other than my own dad.

Jeff Merkel is my real dad. He is 40 Years old and works in Leavenworth as a cop. He will be leaving in 2 weeks to go to Annual Training for the Military. He will be in the boring state that no one cares about, Wyoming. I can't believe that he will be away for a whole 2 weeks, it really sucks for me.

My second dad, although not my real dad, is of course my Grandfather, Robert "Bob" Merkel.

I don't know how old he is, and I am sure he wants it to stay that way. But my Grandpa is a retired Marine Cor Veteran. And he is curently working for basically all the car dealerships in Lawrence and even a couple up in the Kansas City Area. What does he do exactly?

He delivers cars, litteraly anywhere to and from in the United states. Its definately an exciting job, I said I would be happy to replace him whenever.

My third dad, even though I don't know him that well, he is still family, is my sisters, Morgyn and Brittnes Dad, David Carey.

Alls I can say about David is that the one, single time we meant, it was at like 7 in the morning, he was picking up Morgyn and Brittne to go up to Indiana.

Fathers Day

Just so you know, before you read this, this isn't gonna be all about fathers day. Even though Fathers Day is today, I will put up my official Fathers Day post Tomorow.

Now, I bet your wondering what I have been doing all this week, so I will tell you.

On Friday I went over and stayed the night with my Grandparents in Lawrence. But before I did that, we went to Target and got my dad a Fathers Day Card, and some baking stuff so I could make him a cake.

Then, I made the cake at my Grandparents house on Saturday and went to my Baby cousins Birthday Party, and that was really fun, I got to catch up with alot of people that I don't get to see too often.

Well, I know that its a Short Post, But thats all I have. So I guess I will see Y'all later!

Almost Wordless Wednesday (On Thursday)

Sorry about this being a day late, But I completely spaced out yesterday and forgot to publish this, So here it is!

21 Days...

On July 6 my sister will be back in Kansas! I can't wait. O, and did I mention that I might just meet her boy friend, Michael. The reason I said I might just meet him is explained over at her blog. I can't wait to actually see my sister again, and this time, I won't have to worry about school.

But the key thing is, I get to finally see her! I can't wait.

And that isn't the other thing I have planned. Nope, I will also be going to a Birthday Party. Yea, this saturday I will be going to Topeka to celebrate Little Miranda's 4th birthday. Finally!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Over the Past 3 weeks I have been waiting and waiting.

Waiting on what you ask?

MY SCHEDULE

Thats right, the only reason I have been going to check mail almost every day of every hour on the hour is to see if there was anything from Eudora Schools.

Now today of all days, the mail decided to come by while I was mowing the lawn. Now I didn't know that they had come, so low and behold, there was no mail when I went and checked. Turns out my mom had got it today. Well, she finally told me that she got the mail, just as she was leaving for Dairy Queen with my sister to go get her a Brownie Batter Blizzard. So I asked her, "Mom, is there anything in the mail for me?"

And she replies, "We will talk about it later."

So me, being so anxious to find out, I asked her, "Is there anything from Eudora Schools?"

And she finally sais, "Yes,"

And me being really excited goes inside and searches her room from top to bottom, finally finding my Schedule.

And My schedule is as follows:

First Semester:

First Hour: Geometry with Mrs. Robyn Kelso

Second Hour: Biology 1 with Mr. Geoff Day, and in case you are wondering, you say Geoff like Jeff.

Third Hour: Communication Strategies with Mrs. Linda Riedel (Read-ul)

Fourth Hour: English 2 with Mrs. Riedel

Fifth Hour: Digital Imaging with Mrs. Amy Gingrich

Sixth Hour: Geometry with Mrs. Bonnie Daigh (Day)

Seventh Hour: Life Fitness with Mrs. Cara Kimberlin

Now in my Second Semester the only thing that changes is my Seventh and Fourth Hour switch. Now my English 2 class will also change Teachers. I will have Mrs. Shannon Pickett as my English Teacher.

Copy Cat (Family Affair)

Not to Blow of your Blog Morgyn, but I decided to be a copy-cat today. I would like to point out that Blogging has become a Family Affair. And to prove it, these are all the people that have joined the Blooging Community:
First it was my really, really Brave for joining the Air Force Sister: Brittne Snyder. She is the person that runs Our Lifes Journy.
Then it was my Really, Really Smart (and Hippie, I might add) Sister, Morgyn Carey. She is the mastermind behind Morgyn's Musings.
Then it was the Brother I never met, Robbie Mulinax. He is the first Guy in my family to ever join the Blogging Community.
It was then my Aunt Alli, otherwise known as MomBE, over at MomBE's Place.
I then Joined this past April.
And now The third guy to add a blogspot to his arsonal: Jon Snyder. He is my Brother-In-Law ever since this Past July.
Well, there is nothing to update as of now, O, other than, I got my new Phone!!! O Yea, I got the Blue one, and it is as good as I could ever imagine!!!

Finally Out!

Well, I decided that I would update you on what's been going on in my life.

First I would like to point out that I am officially a Sophmore! For those of you that don't know, that means that I am in the tenth grade! Woo Hoo!

Now I don't have much planned over the summer except for hang out with my friends, go to the pool, and maybe get a job, but I wouldn't get a job til toward the end of the summer, so thats the last thing on my mind.

The first thing on my mind, however, is getting a new phone. It just so happens that Tyler lost her phone. Well, her phone actually got stolen while she was at a performance for choir, but you get the idea. Long story short, she gets a new phone, and so do I!!!

Now my Dad called me yesterday and told me to pull up sprint.com and look at new phones. He told me that Tyler and I should pick out our top three phones that we would want, at a reasonable price of course, and that he would call us back in about an hour. So we went through all the phones they had up on there web site. And this is the #1 phone I chose out of all of them:

It's called the Samsung Highnote.

It is one of the newest phones Sprint has. And I might be getting it on Thursday!

Almost Done!

Well, with sort of only 2 days left of school I thought that I would update on how school went. Well I know your wondering, what are his grades. And they are perfectly fine, I wont tell you my actual grades but I will tell you that I will be finishing the year with above a 3.5 GPA. And if thats not good enough for you or you have no idea what that means, well thats your own fault and not my problem!
Now I bet you were wondering what sort of only 2 days left means. Well I will tell you that. It means that today, I don't have to go into school until 10 o'clock and I get out at 2:15. Now its sort of the same tommorow, I don't have to go into school until 12:30! and i get to still leave at 2:15, now that day won't be finished yet, because I might be going to the royals gaem with my mom! I will let you know if that actually happens, we will actually be getting the tickets tommorow morning, if we do actually go to the game. Well thats all for now, i will update maybe over the weekend, seeya later!

3+1+ another 1 AND ANOTHER ONE

First, before I get into the title, i would like to update on my FINALS status. Well today in my 2nd hour i had a really big test that would probably determine whether or not I would take the final in that class. And just so you know this class is Physical Science, NOT one of the hardest classes i have, but THE HARDEST class I have. Well it just so happens that if i failed this test i would have to take this final. But guess what? I passed!!!!!!!!! I barely passed, but I PASSED!!!! Now there is absolutely nothing in the way of me taking that final, so that means basically i don't have to take any finals!
Now to the title of this post. Well today I was outside playing basketball. And you wouldn't believe it unless you saw it. I found 3 little kittens on the side of my house that have been living under my porch for God knows how long. So we took the right precautions and ended up taking them to the animal shelter. Now you would think that that would be the end of that right? WRONG
We get back home and it takes nothing but 5 minutes to find THE MOM OF THE LITTLE KITTENS. And of course the shelter clossed just as we left, so we couldn't take the mom there. So we ending up having to call ANIMAL CONTROL. I know, its so sad. But, thankfully yet not so thankfully, once animal control gets here the cat runs for the hills. The cat was never to be seen again, so far. Then we come to find the boy, or the mate as everyone else likes to call it. And it ends up running away to. Then, in place of the big boy cat comes on a little kitty again. Well once everyone sees it, we look under it again, AND ITS GONE. The little cat was no where to be found. We looked everywhere and didn't see anything. So now there are three cats, one small and two big, running around Eudora and haven't been seen for about 3-4 hours. IT'S SO SAD.
Now the last thing before I finish. Today, which is of course Cinco de Mayo which means its the 5th of May, in Spanish class I had a big project due that included me baking, and Yea, I know what your thinking *O no, I can't believe that boy even picked up a pan*.
Well, I had to make Mexican Wedding cookies, which by the way Brittne, that is the recipe i E-mailed you, and they actually turned out really good. People really liked them and there where so many that there were actually left-overs.
Well that is the update for now, will keep you informed if anything happens.

Now before i get started i would like to say that the only reason i haven't had a post in about a week is because i have been really busy, with stuff like school and i haven't even been able to see much of my friends, so i have been busy.
Well the first thing i would like to say is CONGRATS to my oldest sister, Morgyn, for actually getting a real boyfriend. I hope it lasts forever and i hope he makes you the hapiest girl on earth, its the least you deserve. On an update at school, i am very excited for the end of the school year *cough* *cough* 19 days *cough* *cough*. And wish me luck with my HUGE Spanish project that counts for WAY to much of my grade in which i have to COOK some sort of food for all of my class, which is right around 25 students, hopefully i can do good. Times like this i wish i had Brittne back here in Kansas.

Out Early!!!!!!!!

Well origanlly Eudora Schools were supposed to get out on Wednesday, May 20. That is really early compared to the date we got out the past years, its been like May 25 or 26th, so already like 5 days earlier. And noe, since we didn't have any snow days this year, we get out 2 days get out earlier. So now we on Monday, May 18th!

Now comes in Finals. Finals are the "test of Tests"" for school and they are supposed to be taken by everyone in the winter before Christmas break and before summer break. Now the best part about the finals before the summer break: THEY ARE OPTIONAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But they are only optional conditionally. The Conditions are as followed: Must have an A and les than 4 absenses for that Class. Must have a B and less than 3 absenses. Or must have a C and less than 2 absenses. And so far, i have all A's B's and C's and only 2 absenses for 2 classes and 1 for all the other classes. SO I DON'T HAVE TO TAKE ANY FINALS, at least, so far. Oh, and did i mention that if i don't have to take any finals i only have to go into school on Thursday, May 14th for 3rd through 6th hour, which is about 10 AM to 2:15. I would also only have to in for 5th and 6th hour on friday which is about 12:30 to 2:15.
So hopefully i can make it through the next 2 and a half weeks with maintaining the grades I currently have, and not be gone from any classes.

A Little Bit about Me

Hi there, my name is Austin Merkel and I am currently enrolled at Eudora High School in Good Ol' Eudora, Kansas. Now Eudora might seem like a small town that no one has ever heard of and for the most part it is exactly like that. But Eudora is a known town in Kansas just becuase of it's location. Eudora is located in the NE part of Kansas and, for those of you that don't know it is just 6 miles from the town of Lawrence. And for those of you taht don't know about the town of Lawrence... GET A LIFE. Lawrence is home of the Nationwide famous KU Jayhawks.
